SOCCER CONDUCT                     BACK

 PLAYERS:

  1. All players present should be in proper uniform at the start of the game. Shirts must be tucked in, shin guards must be next to the skin under their socks.
  2. Sweatshirts or sliding shorts may be worn under the uniform in cold or wet weather.
  3. Players may not wear anything that is dangerous to another player. This includes, but is not limited to: splints, casts, metal bracelets (except medical alert bracelets that are secured to the body), rings, earrings, wristwatches and hair barrettes. The referees decision on the legality of a players apparel is final.
  4. Regulation soccer cleats (with rubber cleats) or sneakers are recommended for all games and practices. Metal cleats and toe cleats are not allowed. Baseball and football shoes are not acceptable.
  5. Cheer positively for good play on both teams.
  6. Never show disrespect by word or action to either a member of the opposing team, the referee or even your own teammate.
  7. Accept the decision of the referee. Disagreement or heckling can lead to a warning or dismissal from the match.
  8. Have fun.

PARENTS:

  1. Cheer positively for the things you like and encourage your team.
  2. Never put down the other team or any of the players on either team.
  3. Please leave the sideline coaching to the coach. Spectators frequently yell instructions to players – these instructions often contradict those of the coach and only confuse the players.
  4. Referees are volunteers, not professionals. While their decisions may not always be agreeable to all participants and spectators, they are final. No useful purpose is served by shouting disagreement or derogatory remarks. Referees can caution players and dismiss them from a match for misconduct. They can also caution and dismiss coaches, and can even terminate the match. Deliberate fouls, or abusive words and disrespect on the part of players, coaches or spectators can lead to these actions.
  5. For the safety of all, coaches and spectators must stand at least 1 yard from the sideline. No one is allowed to stand behind the goal or within 18 yards of the goal-line on either side of the field. Coaches and referees are asked to enforce this condition.
  6. No smoking or alcoholic beverages are allowed at games or practices.
  7. Family pets should remain at home.
  8. Remember, it’s only a game.
  9. Be your child’s best fan. Support your child unconditionally.
  10.  Do not bribe or offer incentives. Bribes will distract your child from properly concentrating in practice and game situations.

 COACHES:

  1. Never put down the other team or any of the players on either team.
  2. Heckling the referee is totally unwarranted.
  3. Be concerned for the safety and welfare of each player.
  4. Not allow any player to reenter a game if there is any doubt as to the seriousness of a player’s injury.
  5. Refrain from using profanity to a youth or in the conduct of activities dealing with youngsters
  6. Accept gracefully the decisions of officials as being fair and called to the best ability of the official.
  7. Be responsible for the conduct of the players, parents and other supporters of your team. "As the coach goes, so does the sideline."
  8. Do not criticize, aggravate or incite the opposing team, coaches or fans by word of mouth or gesture.
  9. Attend training clinics
  10. Never use any physical means against spectators, players, officials or other coaches.
  11. Criticism should be constructive in nature

REFEREES:

  1. Arrive on time for your match. Be properly dressed.
  2. Enforce and apply the laws correctly.
  3. Concentrate on the job at hand. Do not become distracted by conversations with spectators or coaches during the game.
  4. Do not criticize fellow officials, coaches or players.
  5. Anticipate play and move quickly to be near possible incidents.
  6. Keep up with play by moving quickly.
  7. Deal with injuries quickly.
  8. Deal with dissent quickly and firmly
  9. Deal with misconduct correctly, sensibly and fairly.
  10. Keep a full and accurate report of the game.
  11. Report the match results and any misconduct in a timely manner to the proper authorities.
  12. Avoid gesturing or speaking to players and coaches in a way that might suggest that you are belittling them.
  13. Show that you are neutral and objective by not socializing at the match site or near the match site with players, coaches or fans of either team, before or after the match.
  14. Attend classes to stay current with the "Laws of the Game."
